BLACK FOLK - THE ARCHIVE
Black Folk was born in 2015 out of friendship, vision, and deep care. Sparked by three friends paging through art and design magazines and not seeing themselves reflected back. It was more than a response to erasure; it was an act of witnessing. We see you. Even when it felt like no one else was watching, we were. We held space, we celebrated, we reached across distances and screens to create something sacred. What began as a platform to uplift the work of our peers and elders became a living archive of presence, connection, and creative kinship. These stories weren’t untold— they were being told, beautifully and urgently, in the bubble we built for ourselves. In 2017, we brought that vision into the world with Black Folk presents Reclaimed Rage: Resistance at Bronx Art Space. Though we concluded in 2022, the archive lives on; as memory, as mirror, as a never-ending love letter.
